Baden is situated in southern Germany. As you can see from the map our co-operative wineries are very close to the French border at the edge of the beautiful Rhine valley. The climate is very mild with its average temperature higher than in other German wine regions such as Pfalz or Mosel. The saying goes that Baden is spoiled by the sun. The region is also protected by the Black Forest in the east and the Vosges Mountains in the west. The ground is very fertile and apart from grapes you find all kinds of fruit, from cherry trees to strawberries or pear trees - you name it, it grows there. In this fertile area you can find some of the finest wines produced in Germany. German-wine direct is the only supplier of these 5 co-operative wineries in Britain. You will ask yourself why you haven´t heard of these wines. The simple explanation is that the people from Baden like to drink it themselves. The Which Wine Guide 2000 even mentions that “although sadly, little of this (wine) ever leaves the region”. |
